November 9, 2011 -- Electronics maker Samsung will invest EUR50 million over 2 installments in ISOFOTON, a solar photovoltaic technology manufacturer. The capacity increases will make Malaga, Spain, a photovoltaics manufacturing hub, ISOFOTON claims.

Samsung will release EUR30 million in 2012 to ramp a new, 100MW-capacity selective emitter solar cell production line. The remaining EUR20 million will be delivered in 2013 to expand solar cell manufacturing capacity to 300MW. Commercial exchange arising from this agreement may benefit from the advantages that stem from Free Trade agreements signed between the European Union and South Korea, which came into effect in June 2011.

ISOFOTON's strategy calls for vertical integration of the value chain and solar cells made with leading-edge technologies. Selective emitter cells improve solar cell conversion efficiency.

ISOFOTON also plans to open a manufacturing facility in Ohio, USA, in 2012.

ISOFOTON designs, manufactures and delivers solar energy products.
